INSULIN RESISTANCE IS AN UNDERLYING FACTOR IN METABOLIC SYNDROME

Are you one of the millions suffering from Metabolic Syndrome who have failed to mange your symptoms, no matter what you've tried? It may not be due to lack of willpower. Instead, you could be Insulin Resistant and that can be reversed.

Scientists at the National Institutes of Health, Stanford University and other research centers have clearly identified the existence and effects of Insulin Resistance, a biochemical condition that can cause excessive weight gain a factor in Metabolic Syndrome. If you are among the 65% of the overweight population of both sexes with Insulin Resistance, your ability to lose weight may not have been within your control - until now.

This breakthrough in understanding remains relatively unknown, even though Insulin Resistance has reached epidemic proportions. There is a crucial link between Insulin Resistance, Metabolic Syndrome, weight gain, and poor cardiovascular health. You need to understand this link in order to reverse insulin resistance.

The Insulite MetaX System is the first scientifically-designed method that can help support your body's ability to manage your symptoms and reverse Insulin Resistance.

METABOLIC SYNDROME AND INSULIN RESISTANCE

Metabolic Syndrome is a collection of risk factors that can increase your chance of developing cardiovascular disease.

Insulin Resistance is an underlying factor in Metabolic Syndrome and there are many influences that contribute to the presence of both these conditions.

In essence, our environment and lifestyles have evolved too rapidly for our bodies to keep pace. We are still genetically "wired" to thrive on the entrenched habits of our ancestors, who consumed different, nutrient-rich foods through a diet low in simple carbohydrates. They also sustained greater levels of movement and exercise. Some people may also have a genetic predisposition to Insulin Resistance, while others develop the condition through stressful and unhealthy lifestyles.

INSULIN RESISTANCE AFFECTS GLUCOSE AND INSULIN LEVELS

Over time, cells do not utilize insulin to convert glucose to energy efficiently in people with insulin resistance. Insulin Resistance is an underlying factor in Metabolic Syndrome.

Diagram of a Normal cell

Energy comes from a complex metabolic process where food is first converted into glucose and travels in the bloodstream. The glucose then passes through the membranes of your cells using insulin as a "key" to be converted into essential energy. Insulin Resistance, however, desensitizes the cell to insulin, and most the glucose unable to enter the cell remains in the bloodsteam.

Diagram of Insulin Resistant cell

The unused glucose is carried to the liver and converted into fat and distributed around the body via the bloodstream. This process can lead to weight gain.

Insulin Resistance can also cause unhealthy levels of insulin too. The unhealthy levels of glucose and insulin can be factors in Metabolic Syndrome as well as a variety of other conditons, including Pre- and Type 2 Diabetes, and PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), a factor in menstrual irregularity, and female infertility.

SYMPTOMS OF METABOLIC SYNDROME

Many people are unaware that they have Metabolic Syndrome, even though the American Heart Association estimates that 20-25% of the adult U.S. population suffers from this condition or between 58 and 73 million men and women.

Man on ladder with Syndrome XMetabolic Syndrome is characterized by having at least three of the following symptoms:
  • Insulin Resistance (when blood sugar and insulin levels are unhealthy)
  • Abdominal fat – in men this means a 40 inch waist or larger, in women 35 inches or larger
  • High blood sugar levels – at least 110 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) after fasting
  • High triglycerides – at least 150 mg/dL in the blood stream
  • High LDL "bad" cholesterol
  • Low HDL "good" cholesterol – less than 40 mg/dL
  • Pro-thrombotic state (e.g. high fibrinogen or plasminogen activator inhibitor in the blood)
  • Blood pressure of 130/85 mmHg or higher
The American Heart Association states that the "underlying factors in Metabolic Syndrome are being overweight, physical inactivity, and genetic factors."

Researchers have found a connection between Metabolic Syndrome and other conditions such as obesity, high blood pressure, and high levels of LDL cholesterol, all of which are risk factors for Cardiovascular Disease.

Studies have shown, for example, an increased link between Metabolic Syndrome and atherosclerosis, which occurs when fatty deposits called plaque cling to the interior walls of the arteries that can lead to blockages and cardiac arrest, or stroke. People with Metabolic Syndrome are also more prone to developing Type 2 Diabetes, as well as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in women.

At present, there is no single pharmaceutical drug that can manage the symptoms of Metabolic Syndrome. We feel a complete system is needed to reverse Insulin Resistance.

"I have been on the Insulite System for approx 3 months. I have lost 33 lbs, my liver functions are normal and my A1C came back at 5.1, down from 8.03 months ago. I was taking 10 Glucovance pills daily, now I take only 2 pills in the AM. My blood sugar is normal, my energy is higher than it has been in years and I feel great. Insulite along with a change in my diet has changed my life.

I tell everyone that asks me what I have done to change my life, about the Insulite program. Your product is fantastic. I have cut out all sweets, flour, dairy and have no cravings."

"In less than 3 weeks I've started losing weight again after being "stuck" on Weight Watchers for about a year. I've lost about 4 lbs since starting Insulite but more significantly my blood pressure is well within normal limits now and I can tell my metabolism is better. I am not getting that slump between meals and am able to control between-meal snacking, and I have a lot of energy throughout the day rather than periods where I need to nap. I just ordered the 6 months supply. Thank you!"

"Researchers agree that insulin resistance is central to the metabolic syndrome. When target cells are unresponsive to insulin, the pancreas responds by pouring even more insulin into the bloodstream, leading to high levels of the hormone in the blood, a condition called compensatory hyperinsulinemia. The high level of insulin in the blood forces glucose into cells but also starts the events leading to arterial damage and eventually a heart attack. Under these conditions, a person may not manifest either diabetes or heart disease but could well be on the way to either or both."

"I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your caring advice and guiding me towards taking control of my health. It's hard to express in words how long I have been trying to find the answers you have so easily provided for me.

I am so excited about the positive changes in my health and I can't wait to see where I am six months from now, yet alone the year. Thank you again!"

"Simply losing 5-7% of your body fat (typically 10-15 pounds) and increasing your physical activity by taking a brisk walk 4-5 times a week can reduce your risk of developing Type II Diabetes by almost 60%."
Diabetes Prevention Program study 2001, study funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, et al.
"I started your product and found it really boosts my system, helping me get off ground zero, and stop the spiral downwards. It gave me the energy to start exercising and prepare healthy meals.

You are all very supportive, even though I am on the other side of the world (Australia). I am very glad that I am on your product, your weekly messages are also very encouraging, when I am finding things a bit harder. Thank you for everything."

"...approximately 90% of overweight Hispanic children with a family history for type 2 diabetes have at least one feature of the metabolic syndrome and 30% possess the metabolic syndrome.

Our results support the view that improving insulin resistance may be crucial in the prevention of both type 2 diabetes and premature cardiovascular disease in this at-risk subpopulation of Hispanic youth."
