INSULIN RESISTANCE IS AN UNDERLYING FACTOR IN METABOLIC SYNDROME
Are you one of the millions suffering from Metabolic Syndrome
who have failed to mange your symptoms, no
matter what you've tried? It may not be due to lack of
willpower. Instead, you could be Insulin Resistant and that can be reversed.
Scientists at the National Institutes of Health, Stanford
University and other research centers have clearly identified
the existence and effects of Insulin Resistance, a biochemical
condition that can cause excessive weight gain a factor in Metabolic
Syndrome. If you are among the 65% of the overweight population of both sexes
with Insulin Resistance, your ability to lose weight may not have been within your control - until
now.
This breakthrough in understanding
remains relatively unknown, even though Insulin Resistance has
reached epidemic proportions. There is a crucial link between Insulin Resistance, Metabolic Syndrome,
weight gain, and poor cardiovascular health. You need to
understand this link in order to reverse insulin resistance.
The Insulite MetaX System is the first scientifically-designed
method that can help support your body's ability to manage your
symptoms and reverse Insulin Resistance.

METABOLIC SYNDROME AND INSULIN RESISTANCE
Metabolic Syndrome is a collection of risk
factors that can increase your chance of developing cardiovascular disease.
Insulin Resistance is an underlying factor in Metabolic Syndrome
and there are many influences that contribute to the presence of both these conditions.
In essence, our environment and lifestyles have
evolved too rapidly for our bodies to keep pace. We are still
genetically "wired" to thrive on the entrenched habits of our
ancestors, who consumed different, nutrient-rich foods through a
diet low in simple carbohydrates. They also sustained greater levels
of movement and exercise. Some people may also have a genetic
predisposition to Insulin Resistance, while others develop the
condition through stressful and unhealthy lifestyles.
INSULIN RESISTANCE AFFECTS GLUCOSE AND INSULIN LEVELS
Over time, cells do not utilize insulin to convert glucose
to energy efficiently in people with insulin resistance. Insulin Resistance is an underlying factor in Metabolic Syndrome.

Energy comes from a complex metabolic process where food is first converted into glucose and travels in the bloodstream. The glucose then passes through the membranes of your cells using insulin as a "key" to be converted into essential energy. Insulin Resistance, however, desensitizes the cell to insulin, and most the glucose unable to enter the cell remains in the bloodsteam.

The unused glucose is carried to the liver and converted into fat and distributed around the body via the bloodstream. This process can lead to weight gain.
Insulin Resistance can also cause unhealthy levels of insulin too. The unhealthy levels of glucose and insulin can be factors in Metabolic Syndrome as well as a variety of other conditons, including Pre- and Type 2 Diabetes, and PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), a factor in menstrual irregularity, and female infertility.
SYMPTOMS OF METABOLIC SYNDROME
Many people are unaware that they have Metabolic Syndrome,
even though the American Heart Association
estimates that 20-25% of the adult U.S. population suffers
from this condition or between 58 and 73 million men and women.
Metabolic
Syndrome is characterized by having at least three of the
following symptoms:
- Insulin Resistance (when blood sugar and
insulin levels are unhealthy)
- Abdominal fat in men this means a 40 inch waist or larger, in
women 35 inches or larger
- High blood sugar levels at least 110 milligrams per deciliter
(mg/dL) after fasting
- High triglycerides at least 150 mg/dL in the blood stream
- High LDL "bad" cholesterol
- Low HDL "good" cholesterol – less than 40 mg/dL
- Pro-thrombotic state (e.g. high fibrinogen or plasminogen
activator inhibitor in the blood)
- Blood pressure of 130/85 mmHg or higher
The American Heart Association states that the "underlying
factors in Metabolic Syndrome are being overweight, physical
inactivity, and genetic factors."
Researchers have found a connection between Metabolic Syndrome
and other conditions such as obesity, high blood pressure, and
high levels of LDL cholesterol, all of which are risk
factors for Cardiovascular Disease.
Studies have shown, for example, an increased link between
Metabolic Syndrome and atherosclerosis, which occurs when fatty
deposits called plaque cling to the interior walls of the
arteries that can lead to blockages and cardiac arrest, or
stroke. People with Metabolic Syndrome are also more prone to
developing Type 2 Diabetes, as well as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in women.
At present, there is no single pharmaceutical drug that can manage the symptoms of Metabolic Syndrome. We feel a complete system is needed to reverse Insulin Resistance.
